Tu B’Shvat

This is the holiday for the planting of trees in Israel and there are many tree-planting ceremonies. Fruit and nuts of the season make an appropriate gift.

It is also called, Rosh HaShanah La’Ilanot, literally, ‘New Year of the Trees’.

In contemporary Israel, the day is celebrated as an ecological awareness day and trees are planted in celebration of the holiday.
