Bat Mitzvah

The Bat Mitzvah is a ceremony celebrating that welcomes a 12-year-old girl into adulthood and religious life. Usually there is a party with refreshments.

An example of an appropriate gift could be a watch or jewelry; but most often cash is given. Customarily, a gift of cash follows the custom of giving in multiples of 18. Since 18 is the numerical value of letters in the Hebrew word life, the number 18 is considered good luck.
